About me

I'm Justin, an over-educated arborist based out of central Indiana.

I was born and raised in a small Ohio town, went to college in a different small Ohio town (BA [2008] history, with a minor in biblical studies from Bluffton University), went to a small Mennonite seminary (Anabaptist Mennonite Biblical Seminary), where I earned, in 2011, a Master of Arts degree in biblical studies. My thesis was a translation and rhetorical-critical interpretation of the Book of Nahum.

After jumping from job to job for a year, I became an arborist in Central Indiana (long story, not worth telling here) in 2012 and have been doing that even since. In that time, I made another ill-timed foray into academia (part of that long story not worth telling here), studying a wide array of topics at IUPUI (mostly history and literature).

My intellectual interests cover just about all the humanities and many of the social sciences. Most recently I have been focusing a lot on the history of science, particularly the history of the relationship between science and religion.

In my spare time I enjoy listening to true crime podcasts, reading, playing video games, and spending time with my cat.
